Kyxiel Report 1: Heartbreak

Have any of you ever seen a heart break? Really seen it? Yuuko had and she was more than willing to share (in other words, she wanted to give us grief for giving her grief). It's not a pretty sight. And I had been there to investigate the 'remains' of the shattered heart that could have opened the doors of Kingdom Hearts if it so pleased. 'But why did it break?' you must wonder. Well, a heart could break for many reasons. It can break from incredible duress brought on by grief, sorrow, hate, rejection...nearly anything really. A heart is as strong as it is fragile. Remember that folks.

How did Keily's break so easily? Well, I shall bring you back to the time all Hell broke loose in Montreal...well, maybe just a tiny bit before that. Snape finally decided that a family visit was in order as Keily had gone missing from home for quite some time now and her family would inevitably be wondering what had happened to her.

And they did--for the most part. Heh. Keily's an advocat for the truth--she hates lies, but often shies away from the truth, if only to spare others the ugliness of it all. And the truth of the matter at that point in time was that Keily's parents had given up on her. Just like that. Twenty-years of raising the child they kept and they wanted nothing to do with her anymore.

Did Keily ever tell you how incredibly screwed up her family really is? Well, most likely. But I know one thing she never wanted you guys to know--probably out of embarrassment--or maybe she just didn't want you guys to think she was a pity whore. The kid had an older brother...died naught, but three years ago--attached at the hip they used to be (not literally, of course)--twins, to boot. Their relationship had not been conventional. Although, from the outside it seemed to be just sibling rivalry, but the bruises and sprained wrists proved otherwise.

Nah, they never hated each other. Not an ounce. Keily had been a pretty sick kid when she was younger (a fact she also wants to avoid telling people in case she initiates a pity party) with heart problems as it was something hereditary in their family. Keily, her younger sister and father had the problem. Keily's brother dodged the bullet and had been born healthy, strong and beautiful.

Yet he had been the one given up.

You see folks, you might not think it possible, but it does happen from time to time. A young couple (and Keily's parents had been exceptionally young when they had the twins) with no cash, bad job prospects and having only just graduated high school can't really support a family--especially when the family was already too big and problematic for them to handle. But neither parent wanted to give up the twins, but did decide they would give up one for adoption--to have a chance at a better life, maybe. There had been many rows, but it had been decided that Keily should be kept, while her brother had been put up for adoption.

Now, I'm not trying to make you think that these folks were bad people. They had to do it or end up starving all together. They also knew no one would want to adopt a sickly child, so off her brother went. And they raised little Keily to be the girl you know today. Whatever that entails, of course.

But, in the end, as stated...they gave up on the kid.

Now, if that doesn't break a heart, then I don't know what does.
